Sixty Morning Walks
A Ugly Duckling Presse volume in sixty short parts, each tied to a New York location and inspired by Utagawa Hiroshige's shifting views of the city. The text moves between poetry and something like notation, with language that keeps changing vantage point as if the book itself were walking. A companion volume, Sixty Morning Talks, runs the same locations through an error-prone transcription service, so the two halves ask what mediation does to observation. The result is less a city portrait than a record of attention under interference. Ideal reader: the reader who would rather get lost on purpose than follow a map, or the poet who believes that translation and mistake can be the same thing.
