Shih-ching: The Classic Anthology Defined by Confucius
A Harvard University Press paperback of Ezra Pound's translation of the 305 odes that Confucius treated as required reading. Pound's English is idiosyncratic, sometimes closer to paraphrase than fidelity, and that is part of the book's interest. The volume is small, scholarly, and without pretension to completeness, with the Harvard cover that expects to sit near other East Asian classics. Harvard priced it as a scholarly paperback rather than a gift edition.
