A French-language edition of Montesquieu's 1721 epistolary novel, in which two Persian travelers write home about Paris, religion, and the fragility of empires. The book is often claimed as the first Persian novel written by a Frenchman, which is one way of saying it invents an outside perspective from which to examine a society that thought itself central.
